Zoho Campaigns now lets AI agents build and schedule campaigns over MCP, and HPE gives each team its own AI credit budget on monday.com
Agents are moving inside the CRM and work tools. The setups that work are the ones with permissions, approvals and budgets designed in.
What happened
Zoho rebuilt its Campaigns marketing platform and added support for the Model Context Protocol, according to eCommerceNews. Compatible AI agents can now build, schedule and analyse campaigns within the permissions a business sets, with review and approval controls kept in place. Email, SMS and WhatsApp now run in one workflow, with frequency capping across all three so contacts are not messaged too often. Live sync with Zoho CRM keeps segments current, and expanded webhooks push campaign data to outside apps. Zoho says sending 100,000 emails was up to four times faster in internal testing. Paid plans still start at $4 a month.
At monday.com's Elevate event, HPE's Kate Kenner described to SiliconANGLE how HPE runs workflows on monday.com. Admins train users first and give groups separate AI credit allotments. An executive dashboard built with monday vibe replaced pasting charts into slides, and executives moved review meetings from weekly to monthly. A weekly agent pulls livestream attendance from Teams, maps people by organisation, region and manager, and flags anyone missing from HR records.
My take
Neither story is about a smarter model. Both are about control: what the agent may touch, who approves the send, how much it can spend and how often a contact gets messaged.
When I wire an agent into a CRM, I write these down before any build:
- Actions the agent can take alone, like drafting, segmenting and reporting.
- Actions that need a human click, like sending, deleting and changing deal stages.
- A spend cap per team or per client, with an alert before it runs out.
- One frequency rule across every channel, not one per tool.
The HPE agent is a good model to copy. It does a dull weekly reconciliation and returns a short list of exceptions for a person to check. That pattern fits almost any CRM: duplicate contacts, stale deals, missing owners.
