ZoomInfo buys DoubleO.ai to make sales agents run whole plays. The workflows are worth stealing
Every sales team has seen an agent demo. ZoomInfo just bought a company whose pitch is running the whole play, not just the demo.
What happened
ZoomInfo acquired DoubleO.ai, a multi-agent orchestration platform founded in 2024 by Derek Osgood and Karthik Suresh, for an undisclosed sum. DoubleO's pitch is reliability: keeping context across longer workflows so agents can go from a business signal to the next actions without a person coordinating every step.
Two workflows were described. In champion tracking, agents detect when a customer contact moves to a new company, check whether that company is a customer or fits the ideal profile, map the buying group and prepare outreach based on the past relationship. In closed-won to new pipeline, agents review why a deal closed, draft a case study, find similar companies that are not customers yet and prepare tailored outreach.
"The agents don't run the same way twice, so a person has to babysit every step," Osgood said of most agent projects. ZoomInfo also says its GTM.AI context layer offers API and MCP access to its data, with integrations including Salesforce Agentforce, HubSpot Breeze, Microsoft Copilot Studio, Claude and ChatGPT. Integration timelines were not disclosed.
My take
Ignore the acquisition and look at the two plays. Both are things a small team can build now with a CRM, an enrichment source and an automation tool. Neither needs a fully autonomous agent.
Champion tracking, for example, breaks into steps:
- A scheduled job checks key contacts for job changes.
- A rule checks the new company against your customer list and ideal profile.
- An AI step drafts a note using the deal history from your CRM.
- A rep approves before anything sends.
The reliability Osgood describes mostly comes from that structure: fixed steps, clear data in and out, and AI only where judgment helps. That is also how you keep it cheap and debuggable.
These are the kind of AI automations I design and build for teams: lead routing, champion alerts, follow-up drafts, pipeline reporting and agent workflows that run the same way every time. See examples at romielwillautomate.dev.
